June, 2018 – Klondike Highway-Whitehorse, Yukon Territory to Skagway, Alaska

While staying in Whitehorse for a few days we decided to take a day trip to Skagway, Alaska.

This little journey and sojourn is full of pleasant surprises.

The Carcross Desert is a must visit. The locals refer to it as the world’s smallest desert. It was totally unexpected.

Once you get past the desert the scenery is even more unique and beautiful. The cloudy day added to that beauty.

In a short span of time we travel through Yukon Territory, British Columbia, and Alaska.

We arrive at the Alaska border and are met by a couple of local cyclists out for a recreational ride. It is a very long uphill from Skagway to the border. We’re impressed.

A view of Skagway.

Many, many cruise ships stop here. Skagway is truly a touristy town.

It is a cold and windy day so after a walk around town we headed back home to Whitehorse.
