This is Providence Canyon State Park in far west Georgia. A couple of hundred years ago all of the trees in this area were felled to make way for cotton fields.

Unfortunately, the soil in this area easily eroded and the result was this little grand canyon.

There is a trail that leads down into the canyon. Of course, we had to hike it.

Along the trail was an old homestead which had a variety of abandoned automobiles. The park decided to leave the automobiles as it was too costly to remove them. As the autos rusted away they became habitat for a variety of wildlife.

The colors in the canyon are bright and beautiful.

Until next time.
Looks like a really pretty area and a nice hike!
