The Ancient Forest is outside of Prince George BC and is a very special place. It is the most inland rain forest on earth identified to date. It was not known that the forest existed until 2005 when a university student hiking through the region recognized it as an old growth rain forest.
It was slated to be cut down for lumber. You can see where the loggers had cut out pieces of trees to analyze the wood. Fortunately, once it was recognized for what it is-a very ancient forest-logging was stopped and instead it became a Provincial Park.
This place has a special feeling similar to the giant redwoods of California.
Here are pictures from our hike.

Until next time.
Thanks for posting this. It is good to see that a desire for conservation still exists somewhere. So much elsewhere is being lost, perhaps forever, in order to satisfy political agendas and provide a brief financial benefit for a few people.
