One of the interesting places to visit in such an old city is the cemeteries. There are unusual names, headstones, and stories.

The dog cemetery from Edinburgh Castle.

One of the sweetest stories is the Greyfriars Bobby. This dog’s owner, John Gray, passed away in 1858 and was buried in the Greyfriars Kirkyard. For the next 14 years his dog, Bobby, sat on his grave. The dog finally passed away in 1872 and is buried just inside the kirkyard. Members of the community took care of Bobby until his death. A sculpture of Bobby was erected in his honor.

Inside the Old Calton Cemetery stands a statue of Abraham Lincoln. This statue was erected in 1893 and commemorates the Scots who fought for the Union in the Civil War.

Until next time.
Thanks for sharing. I would love to visit there.
