We Have a New RV

This past year we reached a big travel goal—visit all 50 states. As we reached this goal we started thinking about possible new adventures. We thought about doing a bit of foreign travel. While we definitely want to do this in the future, we realized it was just not possible with our kitty family.

For some time we had been eyeing these cute small Class C Motorhomes. The idea of being able to easily move from one place to the next was appealing. Every time we drove into off the grid Forest Service or Bureau of Land Management (BLM) campgrounds we would dream of being able to just pull in and spend a night or two. This just wasn’t possible for us in the 5th wheel. It would be a new way of travel. We looked for quite some time at various options but could never come up with a floor plan that worked for us.

And then, we saw the Coachmen CrossTrail 20xg. The layout was just what we were looking for. The bed raised up into a “garage” area where we had plenty of storage and a place for kitty facilities. This spring we took the plunge and ordered the new RV and it finally arrived at the end of summer. Since it’s arrival we have been getting used to the new RV as well as working out any issues.

We still have the 5th wheel. This new RV is much smaller and we didn’t want to give up our spacious living quarters. Our Grand Design Solitude has been wonderful and we plan to spend part of the year there. So without further adieu, here is our new part time home.

Here’s what she looked like while waiting for us to pick her up.

Easy to park at grocery stores, museums, and pizza stores.

We often park into the sight to get a better big window view. This was not possible in the 5th wheel.

Denise delivering groceries directly to the RV at the grocery store.

Parked at a museum.

The interior.

Our garage under the bed.

Our solar panels.

The new rig is not much bigger than our pickup truck.

This is what we traveled in for 5 1/2 years. We plan to take her out for occasional trips as well as use her as a home base.

Let the new adventure begin!! Until next time.
