Lake Mead & Hoover Dam Hike

We decided to walk to Hoover Dam for exercise. Eight miles round trip was tiring but worth it! The trail starts at the left of the map and ends at Hoover Dam. Nice views of Lake Mead and Hoover Dam was our reward.

The trail is a former train track used when building the dam. Several tunnels break up the trail. Lake Mead is on your left.

Denise is checking out this tunnel’s entrance.

Exiting one of the tunnels.

As we get close to the dam we find a collection of former parts. Fascinating! Most visitors don’t see this.

We finally get close. As you can see the purpose of Hoover Dam is to generate electricity. There were power lines going in several directions.

That bridge over there is very windy!

And there it is!

Here’s something interesting.

Hoover Dam is truly wonderful.

Until next time.
