Albert Gallatin is perhaps one of the least known early leaders of the United States.
Unless of course you work(ed) for the IRS or any other Department of Treasury agency. He is the longest serving US Secretary of the Treasury. He served in this position from 1801 to 1814. Today, when an employee from the Department of Treasury retires, they may be eligible for the Albert Gallatin Award. It is the highest career service award and is awarded upon retirement to employees who have faithfully served for at least 20 years. Denise is proud to have received this award and was excited to learn about Albert Gallatin’s life.
In addition to serving as the Secretary of the Treasury he also represented Pennsylvania in the Senate and House of Representatives. He also served as the Ambassador to France.
He built this home in the late 1700s. It was in the wilderness when it was built.

It is still out in the countryside. Here’s a little information about the place.

Here’s Denise sharing her advice and vision with Mr. Gallatin.

Albert was quite successful and influential.

A view from the back yard.

A most extraordinary man.

A lovely place.

Until next time.
