July 17, 2018 – Hope, Alaska

Hope, Alaska is a small town across the Turnagain Arm of the Cook Inlet just southeast of Anchorage. It is a former mining town but is now a popular destination for those who love to fish. The salmon were just starting to return to the small river that runs through the town. We saw many people and bald eagles fishing in Hope.

Downtown Hope.

This place has quaint old buildings.

Out for a walk just outside of Hope.

A bald eagle flying close to the ground. Can you see it?

Here’s a bald eagle landing.

We took a hike along the south side of Turnagain Arm Waterway.

The trail narrows. No ticks or poison ivy here.

Finally a view of the waterway.

We camped near Hope at Primrose, Alaska. We were within easy walking distance to this view of Kenai Lake.
