July 7, 2018 – Wrangell St. Elias National Park& Preserve

This park turned into a nice day trip down a long dirt road. This National Park is approximately 13.2 million acres. That means the park is as large as Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite National Park, and Switzerland combined. It is our largest national park. The park borders the Kluane National Park in Canada, which is approximately 5.5 million acres. Needless to say, we only saw a small part of this park.

Every day in Alaska brings a new snow capped peak.

The rocks in this area are varied and interesting.

For example.

When we reached this point in the road we decided to turn around and head home.

We probably could have made it across with our 4 wheel drive but, after a quick amateur risk analysis, no.
