June, 2018 – The Sign Post Forest in Watson Lake, Yukon Territory

Welcome to the sign post forest. This forest started growing in 1942 during the construction of the Alaska Canada Highway. A homesick U.S. Army private repairing a mileage sign added the distance to his hometown. Others started adding their hometowns and the rest is history.

License plates, city limit signs, and personal story signs are common. There are over 80,000 signs here.
