May, 2018 – Crossing Into Canada!

Finally!! We have arrived at the Canadian border. Will they let us in? Will they let the cats in? Are they going to take our wine? Denise was nervous, thinking of all the possible things that could go wrong. Well, all went well. We did have to surrender several canisters of pepper spray but otherwise we had no issues.

Here we are trying to get in.

We made it! We are in Rock Creek British Columbia. It is a small community just over the border. Notice Denise is in shorts.

Our RV park was right along the Kettle River. Because there was significant snowfall last winter and a very quick warming the snow melt was causing the river to rise quickly. It was high and moving swiftly.

We decided to take a bike ride along the Trans Canada trail.

Kettle River Recreation Area outside of Rock Creek. The river is rising.

Hiking on the Trans Canada Trail in the Kettle River Recreation Area.

Relaxing. Notice the mountains. We saw our first black bear up there. Or so we thought. It turns out they were just a bunch of black cows. Yes. We felt silly.

The river kept rising. The river was expected to crest a couple of days after we left. It was not expected to reach the campsites.

Our next adventure–a winery in the Okanagan Valley.
