April, 2018 – Southwest Colorado

In early April and on our way to Utah we decided to stay a few days in southwest Colorado. We stayed in Dolores which is close to Mesa Verde. Because we had already visited the park we decided to take a drive northeast to Telluride. Telluride started out as a small mining town in southwest Colorado. Today its beauty and mountains attract skiers, cyclists, vacationers, and the rich and famous.

Our visit was the last weekend of ski season. The snow was already melting but the diehard skiers were out for one last time for the year. We enjoyed riding the gondola up the mountain as well as a couple of nice meals. The drive to and from Dolores was beautiful.
